I think everyone can agree that as Christmas nears, we all start to think of the wonderful events, festivities, and traditions of the season. Whether your tradition is visiting family, going on vacation, or staying home and watching movies, we all have something to look forward to with anticipation. For my family and me, we go caroling with our neighbors every year. We have been doing it for the past 10 years and have even been featured in our local newspaper. It is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit. But is caroling becoming just another dead tradition you just see on TV?

I will admit caroling is definitely not as common as it once was. People are always busy on vacation, seeing family, putting up decorations, and buying gifts. However, that should not stop anyone from starting the tradition in their neighborhood. It is a wonderful way to celebrate the season and get to know the people right next door just a little bit better. And even if you do not want to do it with your neighbors, invite over a couple friends to go door-to-door to spread the Christmas cheer. And when it is all done, go home, relax, have some hot chocolate, and warm up from the cold winter weather. Caroling is an amazing way to bring people together and it should not be buried under the snow.

Christmas traditions are some of best parts of the winter season. It is always nice to see old traditions continue. But let’s not forget the ones that do not get as much attention. Start a new tradition this holiday season or perhaps dig up an old one that has faded away over the years. Just don’t forget to have fun with it and spread the joy of the Christmas season.
