Students are sporting purple-beaded bracelets to support a charity designed to raise money for Alzheimer’s research. The creators of this amazing charity are the Academy’s own sophomores Alexandra Rainis and Chrissy DiBrigida.

Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease that can cause the loss of memory and the ability to do basic functions. Alexandra explained that her inspiration for the charity came from her grandmother, who currently suffers from this disease. “I feel helpless seeing her in a state in which her body is merely a shell, where she doesn’t remember anything, and cannot do anything. Our idea is to create a charity to raise money for research to find a cure for this horrible disease.” Alexandra’s partner Chrissy described her passion to find a cure for this debilitating disease by saying, “My grandparents are affected by Alzheimer’s as well, so it is just as important to me to find a cure.”

These adorable bracelets cost just $5. Find Alexandra or Chrissy to purchase one, or email them at [email protected]. Also, follow the Forget Me Not alz instagram to order and donate @forgetmenotalz.
